Lem and Ada’s Meyer Lemon Scones with Earl Grey Glaze

On a whim I bought a bag of Meyer lemons. I had heard of them but never tasted them, so I grabbed a bag and was ready to try something new. Looking at my Instagram feed the following morning I happened to come across a recipe for Meyer Lemon Scones from a blogger that I have followed for a few years that looked very yummy (not uncommon, all her recipes do, she is an awesome food photographer). The recipe is by Christina at www.dessertsfortwo.com. It was meant to be!

I have never made scones, but her recipe looked fool-proof, so I gathered everything that I needed and started baking. The recipe was super easy to follow but I still had some help. My son loves being in the kitchen, so he helped by cutting the butter into the flour mixture. He did a good job for a two-year-old! And doesn’t he look cute in his Spiderman apron?! I got him that for Christmas to keep him somewhat clean when he is throwing flour and sugar around.

As I was making these I thought of a cute toy set that I have that complimented these scones. They are Lem and Ada from the original Strawberry Shortcake collection. They also have a pet dog named Sugar Woofer. How adorable is that?! These cuties are twin brother and sister and very citrusy. They are cleverly named after lemonade and they are lemon-lime scented.

To finish off the scones I made an Earl Grey tea glaze. The scones are sweet on their own, but the glaze gives them an added sweetness and flavor that compliments the Meyer lemons really well. The scones are light and buttery and thankfully the recipe makes a small batch because I can easily eat all of the scones. They are so good! Please make them and enjoy!
